OK...so how does it fit on a S3?? there appear to be only 2 holes on each rail, but the brackets have 4 holes as per the 2A. the other issue for me and I know some of you will correct me if I'm wrong...but didn't the Thomas PTO winch get fitted to the series 3

Alright...... just checked the bumper bar and it doesn't have holes where the winch brackets attach. Also had another look at the holes in the brackets. The 2 that bolt through the chassis are a little flogged out and are kinda bigger an sorta oval, while the front most 2 are round, suggesting to me that only the 2 rear ones where used, hence the odd shapes. Spacers may have been used but seeing as how rusty this vehicle is, I'd say they were long gone. Unfortunately we can't remember exactly how it was fitted and also I never took detailed photos while it was still on the vehicle.
One thing I did notice was that the mounting holes in the brush bar nearest the radiator have been welded up. The corresponding ones in the bumper are not. A bit odd methinks.

cheers

Ok, it seems that photos of series 3 winches mounted are rather rare!

I'll have to look at what documentation I have in the form of parts and workshop manuals.

Untill then, I have this photo. Doesn't help a lot, but some help at least.

thanks again everyone. just one more question stage1slave, are the L shaped brackets that are welded to the chassis for the brush bar support arms (not used with winch fitted) still intact or have they been cut off to allow for the winch or were they never there at all?

Hi Beckett, just found these on my files. From the looks L-brackets were not needed as the winch itself was more than enough support. Also shows the 2 front bolts not to be used. Also No spanners had been used in anger when these pics were taken.
cheers
