I found this thread interesting to read as i need to mount my Bamford winch to the Series 3 GS. Lots of great pics here! I have a scan of the instruction manual, as sent to me some time ago by Mr Bamford. I tried to attach it here but its over the file size limit. Phoenix i have emailed it to you.

That's a modified FFR for instrument testing, but the modifications are elsewhere, so it must!

The Bamford winches were originally for SIIA's, but not all were fitted. They were kept in storage and later fitted to SIII's. When fitted to a SIII, the drive shaft has to be cut and extended. This is achieved by sleeving it with a piece of tube. I have a Bamford fitted to my civillian SIIA. I only have the mounting bolts in the two rear holes. I figured that the two rear holes go through the chasis, while the two front holes only go through the bumper bar. As I don't have D-rings fitted, I didn't worry about drilling the holes for the front bolts. Some of the winches that were kept in storage were auctioned off a while ago. I purchased one of these, new in the wooden crate.
