Mobile Kitchens

Has anyone got any pictures, drawings etc on Army kitchen Trailers. Or any cooker / kitchen trailers made up not unnecessarily Military ones.
I have a rotten number 4 Jeep trailer I want to make into a mobile Kitchen and need some ideas.
regards
kev

Hi KiwiKev,

What period were you thinking of ?

In the ealry 90's 2 Sig Regt made a local pattern based on an old 65 Kva Gen trailer. It was quite good - you backed the stores mog up to one end and the huge refrigerator (mog or trailer mounted) up to the other.

Down the drivers side were the hot plates / ovens / work benches and it opened up down the passenger side with serving benches and ' bay marie ' (sp?).

Probably a bit bigger then you were thinking ?

Good luck & have fun

Pete

Try this site;THE WILES COOKER
This is the old Wiles cooker used by the Aussies through WWll and Vietnam. The Junior one is probably the one that would apply to your trailer, but remember that these were basically built to cater for Platoon strength whereas the Senior model was for Company strength and above. They were pretty capable units catering not so much for todays more common BBQ style but moreso for steam and pressure type cooking.
If you are thinking more on the lines of catering for yourself, Mum, and a couple of kids, then either of these would be overkill!
Best of luck. Wouldnt mind sampling some of the finished product one day.
Regards
Glen

Rob
I don;t think I put these up the first time, but its a fair hike from you
its on the eastern approaches to a place called Tumbledown Mountain, near Stanley in the Falkland Islands. It was the one of the eating areas for the argie troops that were there.( Can't find my topo map, I can give you the exact co-ordinates if you like)
