colours

Many thanks Stuart

I am assuming that camouflage green (342-1166) is the standard green of the Series 3 as i want to keep it as orignal as possible.
Also looking at the differentials they appear to have been painted green as well, do you know if this is correct?
The chassis has been repaired at some stage and it is black in parts but there are patches of green in there as well.
any thoughts

Mark

G'day Mark

Chassis and running gear colour seem to be a contentious issue as it would seem that different vehilces had differnt paint jobs. I think it's great that you're seeking the correct information as these vehicles are part of military history and should be treated as such.
Keep everyone informed of your reseach and decision

I have posted some more links for your perusal.

colour

Tommy

that is excellent, it would fit with the colours that i have at the moment. i think that the overspray is probably correct, so i will give black a go.

The protec colour is what I have just painted my series 3 with. My chassis is all black, but some do appear to have been painted green. However the majority are all black chassis and running gear. Obviously some recieved overspray from lazy spray painters at times.

The protec paint is exactly the paint (enamel) that was used on the vehicles.

Or alternatively; received a squirt of olive drab from a diligent driver, who couldn't for the life of him work out why it was painted black in the first place, and was therefore ruining his camouflage.

True, True!

Interestingly when I did some camouflage exercises with my series 3 (Pre paint job) it was the white and shiny surfaces that stood out (is it the 5 s's of camouflaage, I can't remember now). Mainly the windshield and number plates.
