G'day Inmate63
![]() If your Series 3 is Military, it would have been fitted with 7.50 x 16 6 ply Bar Tread non directional tyres(conventional cross ply), and if it was late in service it may have been fitted with 7.50 x 16 Steel Trek radial tyres, as used on the coil sprung Perentie vehicles. cheers

All same ratios, and all army LWB models in australia came with 750x16 tyres.

In my time at Leyland, Series III 88" had 6.00 x 16 cross ply, usually military bar tread, and 109" had 7.50 x 16 cross ply, mbt's or dual purpose tyres, mostly Dunlop or Olympic. Forget what the dual purpose ones were called. Some 88" were retro-fitted with 7.50's before sale at dealer/customer request. For Qld. we preferred Olympic as state and local govt. vehicles were supposed to be delivered on Qld. made tyres and Olympics were the only brand to have a plant in Qld, now closed. Other customer requests were usually a preference for a particular brand, or for Goodyear Custom Hi-milers for beach work, or, rarely, Michelin Sahara. The Michelins were luxury priced.

![]() All Aust Military Series 2/2a Landrovers both LWB and SWB and 1/2ton trailers were fitted with Rover rim part number 272309 5.5inch with a 1 13/16 inch offset from centre, the Ser 3's were fitted with the same rims but with a new part number AYG-3038, these rims were made by ROH in Aust. there is a later rim part number AYG-8108 which was/is a rim size of 6.00 x 16 inch to take the radial tyres. The other dual purpose type tyre tread that Brian Hjelm mentioned would probably have been Dunlop Road Track Major, or Olympic Trojan, both of these tyres were conventional cross ply types, the Road Track Major is still available I believe, in both 6ply and 8 ply types, these vehicles were designed and built before Radial tyres were invented and came into common use, so wheel alignment & tyre pressures in all workshop manuals are for Conventional/Crossply types ![]() Hope that is of some help. cheers
