the reason for my engine to cease

gday all it has been ages since i posted about my baby workshop "ratchet" due to my frustration in getting my spare engine home and puling the head of the engine in ratchet to find out what the banging was and why it ceased.

the reason for this was not a dropped valve as i feared but rather a small insignificant screw i must of carelessly dropped into the inlet manifold!

but as a result of taking the head of valves have been ground and reseated head sandblasted and surface ground painted and looking very spiffy...

now i just need to paint the block so its not out of place!

but ratchet will hopefully be registered soon and on the road to corowa

G'day Lachlan

I hope that you sand blasted the head before you had it surface ground and the valves re-seated,as otherwise you will have leftover grit inside the head/valve cavities this will cause increased wear.

cheers

Have you seen a video of your landy in action?
Pretty certain it's this one:
The owner that had it in this vid lives a short distance from me, but doesn't have any Landies anymore.

Looks like the one to me!

Great vid - I love how the ancient Landy walks up it, while the others take multiple attempts!

You can't finish the video without showing whether they got up. The suspense is too much!

Wasn't someone inquiring a while back how Series Landrovers compared offroad with more modern four wheel drives?
