Carbys
i have a 1960 solex carby on my vehicle and i rebuilt it coz it was not assembled when i bought the vehicle and i didnt have a fuel mixture screw so i went to dads box of series one carbys (solex) and pinched a mixture screw.
now in theory i should be able to stall the vehicle by screwing the screw all the way in... but it doest. my thinkings are either there is a specific 1960's screw for the carby not the same as the series one ones, or there is air getting in through the vacuum advance for the distributer of similar so the vehicle still gets air and doesnt stall. and suggestions?

Float level
Carburetter incorrectly assembled or diaphragm damaged during assembly Accelerator pump linkage not correctly adjusted. If there is the possibility of the mixture screw being too short, have you tried putting it in temporarily without the spring - this would allow it to screw in further if it is not bottoming. Can't think of anything else - John
