Christmas in July Goomburra Camping - Fri 21st to Sun 23rd

Trip Organizers: Graeme and Desley Brown
Meeting Place/Time: BP Goodna at 9:00am Friday for
9:15am departure.
Graeme and Desley will be going up to the camp ground on
the Friday morning, (and probably stopping on the way at
Aratula to enjoy a morning coffee) after meeting others able to
go at that time. Those not able to join us are free to make their
own way later on Friday or on the Saturday.
Getting there:
It is an easy drive up the Cunningham Highway towards Warwick.
Travel 46 klm from ARATULA at GLADFIELD (the driver
reviver station, which is on the right). Turn right just after this
towards GOOMBURRA, then a further 10 klm to the GOOMBURRA
HALL. Turn right along INVERRAMSAY Road (which
leads to Goomburra State Forest) and travel 20.5 klm to
GOOMBURRA VALLEY CAMP GROUND, which is on the left.
It is approximately 1 klm past the 'local' shop and 200m past
the second cattle grid. The address is 2013 Inverramsay Road
Goomburra
TRIP GRADING :Social - Camping...... and Easy.
Meals:
CHRISTMAS DINNER: (commencing 6:00pm for 6:30pm) On
the Saturday night a freshly prepared Christmas Dinner will be
enjoyed by all members and friends attending.
The meal will consist of Roast Pork with Apple Sauce (with
option of Roast Beef) complemented with 4 vegetables, followed
by choice of either Christmas Pudding or Apple Crumble
with Custard. It is planned to enjoy this under cover at the
Grounds.
SUNDAY BREAKFAST: (8:00am for 8:30am) A Sunday morning
'Country Breakfast' is also included and will consist of Corn
Flakes, Fruit, Orange Juice, followed by Bacon and Eggs, Savoury
Mince, Poached Eggs and Toast. Bottomless Coffee and
Tea will be available from 4:00pm Saturday.
As all other meals will need to be supplied by yourself, please
remember to bring along 'BYO nibbles & drinks' for the remainder
of the weekend. Also, BYO chairs and a few tables as
these may be required when enjoying the surroundings.
Costs:
DINNER and SUNDAY BREAKFAST: Costs are $22.50/adult
and special prices of $15.00 for children under 12yo. Payment
(cheque payable to RRCQ or cash) directly to the Club Treasurer
(Ann Mullan) at / by the June General Meeting (or post a
cheque to the Club postal box asap – PO Box 233 Ashgrove).
This will allow the completion of arrangements for the Christmas
in July function with the caterer. Additionally, final numbers
attending have to be advised to the caterer by the end of
June.
CAMPING FEES: $6.50 per adult/per night, $5.00 children
(aged 3-12)/per night, please pay as you arrive.
POWERED SITES: $3.00 per night
BUNKHOUSE: $15.00 per person/per night
Trip limits: None.
Accommodation:
Camper Trailers, Caravans, tents or bunkhouse; the camp
ground is the perfect location for rest & recreation, a secluded
weekend getaway, hiking, bird watching or perhaps to indulge
in some bush walking in the nearby Goomburra National Park.
Each site has a fire place.
Features include:
• Large flat grassed camp site, most with creek frontage
(POWERED SITES AVAILABLE)
• Hot showers, flushing toilets
• Bunk house accommodation for 1-15 people (SUPPLYING
SHEETS, DOONA, TOWEL, & SOAP) Please make arrangements
with the Camp Ground management direct.
• Wood & gas barbeque areas
• Firewood available
• Undercover function area (SEATING FOR 75)
General information:
It can be VERRY cold, so bring your winter woollies. The temperature
has reached a chilly -4°C in past years.
Dress: Santa hat, formal attire, black tie or parts thereof and or
full Christmas Attire (Santa outfit etc) may be worn as befitting
the Formal and Festive Occasion.
Decorations: Feel free to bring any Christmas Decorations to
decorate your own camping accommodation.
Communications: Will be UHF channel 19 (if needed before
arriving). Please note.....there is no mobile telephone service
at the campsite itself. Reception drops out once you leave the
Goomburra Hall...!!!
Pets are allowed with prior arrangement. Please make arrangements
with the Camp Ground management direct.
