Thread: 2017 Land Rover Discovery spied inside and out

The Land Rover Discovery 5 has been spotted again, this time getting a thorough workout at the Nurburgring. As an added bonus, the spy photographers have managed to capture images of its interior.Away from Sweden's snow-covered north, this Discovery prototype gives us our best look yet at the next-generation SUV's styling. The overall silhouette sticks to the Discovery's established boxy and upright theme, although some of the harder edges, not to mention the wheel-arch flares, now have a smoother treatment.We can see through the disguise thin, pulled-back headlights similar to the set used on the Discovery Sport. There's also a horizontally-arrayed set of tail-lights instead of today's vertical stack.Moving to the inside, we can see that the next-generation Disco will use a version of Jaguar's latest touchscreen infotainment and navigation system.Unlike the current car, which features climate control and an audio system that sticks into the dashboard's leather sections, the new Discovery has clearly quarantined the functional sections from the more aesthetic areas.Along the centre tunnel, the Discovery 5 uses a version of the pop-up rotary gear-selector found in various Jaguar models. Behind this is a shiny Land Rover badge and controls for the brand's Terrain Select system.Rumours indicate that the new Discovery will be based on the same platform as the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. By switching to a bonded aluminium body, the new Disco should be lighter, faster and more fuel efficient than today's car.Under the Discovery's clamshell bonnet, expect to see a selection of turbocharged V6 and V8 petrol and diesel engines.
