It looks like GAME77's land rover is only a few vehicles different from mine in chassis and vehicle number, im wondering if land rover built batches of games. As I beleive by this time 77/78 the SWB land rover sales were starting to dwindle?

Yes it was a marketing ploy, Toyota's had recently fitted the 4 speed gearbox as had Nissan so both marques had started to outstrip the sales of Land Rover. So instead of upgrading the Land Rover to Range Rover running gear, they thought they'd do a slight of hand trick with a paint job on the current 88" station wagon.

A cynical marketing ploy, that failed to retrieve Land Rover sales - but the Game's still a nice looking SIII.

Thumbs up Series III Game

Hi All,
I'm a newbie to this forum although Land Rovers have been in my blood since 1976 (Dad owned one in Scotland)
I've got a 1977 Game with the following goodies..
Tropical roof
Welded rims (not pressed)
Overdrive
Wing mounted mirrors
Swing away spare wheel carrier
Dished bonnet
Bumperettes and corner protectors
Chassis number: 90335219A
Engine Number: 90227833C
Seq no 220
Glad to see that someone is putting all the Game info in one place.
One of my mates also has a Game, unfortunatley I don't have his vehicle info..but I'll get it.

Brakes Question

G'day Killer,
Thanks for the welcome.
Quick question...you knew I'd have at least one...
My Game doesn't have a brake booster...should it?

Cheers

I'm not certain, mine does have one, series 3 shorties usually don't. It could have been part of the Game package.

Cheers, Mick.

In regard to the brakes on the Games I beleive all 77 Models had the normal 10" setup without booster, mine did, the the one at Techno British in bris does.
However all the 78 year Models appear to have the Duel brake system setup.
Hope this helps

That seems to be right. My 77 is single circuit, no booster while the 78 is dual circuit with booster. I am thinking about converting the 77 to boosted.
