Yes the 80" have narrower rims than later vehicles I think there may be 4 1/2" rims later ones I belive to be 5". There is also something about where the valve stem pokes out in relation to the wheel centre either in the void or in the place where the centre is solid and welded to the outer rim (round bit)

There's a fair amount of detail on the rim widths and measurements, including an excellent diagram from Diana, for the various models here:
    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/series-2-2...-rim-size.html

The measurements I made of the Land Rover rim on my S2A were later checked against my 80" S1 and the rims are identical. The S1 rims are stamped as 10/49 and it's a 1950 model sold out in April 1950, so the rims seem genuine and correct for age and model. (There is of course a possibility that the spare on the S2A is in fact a S1 rim). I don't understand why they are 6" wide rims when all advice I've had to date says it should be a 4.5" rim, but that's another matter.

    Cheers

firewall is shot, not sure about chassis (neither is he!)
will come with front panels etc, a ringpull or push button "AUTO" gearbox/transfer case and 2l motor (running) probably from a '54 model.

will look at what else is needed (eg 4 correct rims) and add as he can, has extra dashes with dials and steering wheels, ..

asking $1350 ... I also have negotiated for an allegedly rustfree firewall from a 49 for under $500..

so-what do you think, is it worth it?

YES> YES> YES> I would go for it at that price.
