    Trans-Tasman Series 1 Forum

    Hi S1 Enthusiasts

Many of you may know that I wear a couple of hats and one of them is sort of in competition with this forum. However I just thought I would let you know about the Trans Tasman S1 Group.

For some years there has been a relatively active Series 1 group of the LROCV - The Series 1 Register of Victoria, this has quite a large and international group on its email list server. Hoping to emulate the LROCV success for the rest of Australia and in fact long before the S1 Enthusiasts section of the AULRO was started, we started a Series 1 group that rapidly spread across the Tasman to New Zealand, and even has its own website with information and suppliers specific to Series 1 Land Rovers
    Trans-Tasman Series 1 Group Website.

After running the two groups in tandem for about 18 months the 2 groups merged and then started a forum site at almost the same time as AULRO started this one.
    Trans-Tasman Series 1 Forum

The point is, the Trans-Tasman Series 1 Forum is out there, although small (currently 52 members) every Series 1 Enthusiast is welcome. The format is similar but quite basic to AULRO, although the individual fora have been designed so people can browse a particular S1 area much more easily.

Come an have a look, browse and see if it is of any use to you.

Sorry we are leaf spring people, we don't know about "coilers" or anything with a "2" or a "3" or even Classic in its designation.

    Regards
    Diana

    New meccano set

Hi Everyone, jst want to say hello to all the series 1 poeple. Just picked up
my new meccano set, alias series 1, 80inch, 1953 soft top, chassis number
36660852, so, RHD, export, CKD, etc. Supposed to be ex SMA, (Dad was the Chief Engineer, had a series 1 as his "work car" when we were at Cabramurra, I remember going to school in it. It is actually pretty good, quite straight, all instuments work, motor spins over "on the button" and the lights work. No interior, but there was not a lot there to start with! Hope to have it running in the next couple of weeks so I can check the gearbox, transfer case etc.
Looking forward to keeping you all up to date,
    Regards. Ducky (SMA053)

I was going to say that the forum is running in tandem with the Yahoo site, however it is more like a troika, the email list is seperate but archived on the Yahoo site. The forum is for chat on specific subjects while the Yahoo site acts as an archive for the calendar, the files area for technical info, a database of suppliers and the photo gallery. Both the Yahoo and the forum have links to each other on their home pages.

If you don't already know there is a re-director for the Yahoo site "lrseries1.no-ip.com" instead of all the hassels with the Yahoo address. In fact everything about accessing the Yahoo site is a hassel.

I have to thank Doug Couper from the LROCV Series One Register Victoria for all his work hosting both the forum and the email list.
