Fitting New Seatbelts to a s3 109 Truck Cab

    Hello All,

I am trying to get my head around the anchor points and brackets needed to install a new set of seatbelts. I am OK for the brackets that attach to the floor at the rear of the seatboxes (thanks Lionelgee + Grommit) , but am struggling with what brackets are needed for the retracting mechanism + the bracket up past the shoulder. Any ideas /part numbers would be appreciated.
    cheers,
    D

    Hello D,

Are you replacing an old seat belt system that still has the brackets in place? Or are you upgrading a static belt to the retractable inertia reel belts that may have different parts?

Okay I have just had a look at my "truck" cabs and I noticed that the ones with inertia reel seatbelts do have a bracket that goes inside the from the roof down to the body. This is where the top anchor bolt of the seat belt screws into.

The description of these parts are:
Seat Belt Bracket Right Hand Ref: ADU710100 / Price $14.50 Application: Series and Defender Hard Top. Supersedes from ADU710060 and 395586

Seat Belt Bracket Left Hand Ref: ADU710110 / Price $14.50 Application: Series and Defender Hard Top Supersedes from 395587 The photographs of the parts were sourced on 25/06/2015 from http://www.rovahfarm.com/defendertrim.htm

Or is it just this bracket in Rebus that the belt slides through you are referring to?

I will take some more photos showing the difference in seat belt shoulder height brackets and post them up shortly.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    thanks Lionel.

Replacing old static with modern retractable.

I have the seat box brackets only.

ADU710100 I don't think fits the truck cab, I cant see how it would fit onto anything secure as the cab bends towards the rear light.

I'll go take another look just in case I'm going insane! I'm thinking I may have to make something up. Odd though , as you would think that there are a few that have been done over the years. Thanks for the photo's.
    cheers,
    D

    Seat Belt Anchor Brackets

    Hello D,

Here are some photographs of different Seat Belt Anchor Brackets on a couple of my ute cabs. Plus one without the bracket.

The photographs from the parts supplier shown in my last post are not facing the right direction so they seem a bit strange to relate to.

The last photograph is the Securon Seat Belt Auto Diagonal Ref: GSB50030 / Price $79.99 that I bought from another supplier.

Without seeing your vehicle it is hard to guess exactly what you are working from. I hope these couple of message have been some help to you?

Maybe you could contact Trevor from Rovahfarm by email and see if the parts I have photographed match the part numbers trevor@rovahfarm.com.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Parts Book

    Hello D,

I tracked down the parts numbers in my 1988 Series 3 Parts Catalogue on page 20 : 15. 5RE 356 the attached diagram shows the parts named as Group M Body - Raised Shoulder Seat Harness Anchorages

Right Hand 395586 are now known as ADU710100
Left Hand 395587 are now known as ADU710110

From the RovahFarm site it looks like those parts have been superseded.

I found some better photographs of the parts and they are in close-up although not orientated the right way up - Doh!

John Richards Surplus in the UK have the close-ups - go to http://www.johnrichardssurplus.co.uk...adu710100.html

Were these the parts you are asking about?

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Thanks Lionel.

I cant open any of your pictures - when I click on them I get a message that says I don't have sufficient privileges, I'm not logged in etc etc but from what I can see - the first picture in your first message is what I am dealing with as per my attached photo which hopefully you can open. I'll let the computer cool down and then see if I can try open them again so I can see the detail , this has happened to me before - don't understand why.

    Thanks again,
    D

    Hello D,

I think there is something strange going on with my link to AULRO I get logged out when I click on photographs even ones I have posted myself.

From your photograph you are definitely missing the "Raised shoulder seat harness anchorages". In short you have nothing to bolt the seat belt top into above your shoulder.

The link to the close-up photographs in my last message shows one of the parts you are missing.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

You may find that the brackets from a Defender 2 door or 110 perentie are the way to go. The inertia reel sits low down on the side just behind the door catch on its own bracket.

The SIII and Stage 1 mountings are of no use because they mount off a reinforced section on the transom, right where your fuel filler pipe runs past obliterating the space occupied by the reel mechanism.

The graphic below is the seat belt anchorage fittings for the SIIa and SIII. The shoulder mounting (P/N 336577) in soft tops and truck cabs was raised barely off the capping on the transom. It is possible to use the station wagon mount P/N 348473 and 348474 (you often find then on the "B" pillar of 110 wagons.) but they will have a slight angle on them when fitted to the truck cab because of the curve.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Hello Diana,

I have at least two Series III ute cab Land Rovers and there is no conflict with the fuel filler pipe and the reel.

ah! I can open that last picture Lionel - so the mechanism sits behind the fuel filler behind the seat ?-I'll take a look tomorrow and see If I have anything in the vicinity to attach a bracket to. I'm assuming that the strap to the seat box bracket travels down behind the filler? That gives me something to work on .
I'm thinking I can make up the top "shoulder" bracket to attach to the channel under the cab roof.
Thanks for keeping trying with the photo's.
    cheers,
    D
