Yep, it was fairly "fresh" alright! The LR88 had a recent chassis up rebuild. The chassis is a galvanised one and the bulk head was also replaced. I was down doing a "recce" and collecting driftwood for a future night out under the stars, The driftwood was stacked up above the high tideline so that it will be dried out when I need it. I like driftwood on a fire as it smells different and it seems to spark more, probably due to the salt content.
It's less than a ten minute drive from home, so if I forget something I need for my night out I can come home for it.
You've done a good job it looks the ducks nuts is
It a short wheel (88) base three seater or an 88 station wagon?
I don't mind the colour and I quite like the headlight protection
I have just got home from work and it's 330 in the morning and was about 9? outside and I'm freezing my arse off ! I don't think I could live in a cold climate full time !
For firewood when we can we go to Mallee stumps burn long and hard and have some but in colour in them not sure why

It's seven seats and the colour is "Limestone". She was bronze green and limestone but I opted for all over limestone when she was rebuilt. It has been zero centigrade or below over here at night so I'll wait a bit before the nights under the stars start!
Here are some photos of the LR88 before the rebuild. It's a 2.25 diesel and it has the original engine, gearbox and clutch. It is fitted with a ROCKY MOUNTAIN OVERDRIVE and has done just over 85,000 miles in 34 years.
Have a nice night!
She does drive very well and is very comfortable engine noise wise between 40-50 mph with the overdrive engaged. It is more like a family pet than anything else and is used for little things. Only reason I did her up and kept her is that she qualifies for vintage road tax €56 (83 AUD) per year as she is over 30 years of age. Insurance comes in at €240 (355 AUD) per year and my daughter said she wanted to drive it as her first car. She hasn't even applied for a driving test yet! I think there would be mutiny among the troops if I decided to sell her now.
P.S. It's is advisable not to drive one of these after stepping straight out of a Puma as it's a culture shock to say the least. I found this out on numerous occasions!!!
