You picked the panels up from my old boys place, hope your happy with them
Installed another water pump into 'Fred', but have opted to pickup the new radiator I have ordered when I return back to Melbourne.
Will continue on to the London ex-bridge tomorrow before heading back to Melbourne via Ballarat, I will be keeping a eagle eye on the temperature gauge, I have brought a 5 litre pressurised garden spray that I have filled with water and if there is any tendency to over heat I can give the radiator a squirt.

Hi Matt
Sorry I couldn't get to meet you in person, I have tucked all the bits I picked up from your dad onto the car trailer with the chassis's from Gromit ( Colin ). Next still to come are, the SIII seats and a couple of forklift tynes to pick up and add to the load.
Thanks very much for those extras.
Had the privalage of a visit from Fred and his occupants late yesterday arvo
Fred wasn't feeling the best but we gave him some TLC.
Hopfully he allowed Arthur get every thing done he had to today and is on his way home.
Home! I'm in front of a nice cosy open fire with our little Chihuahua 'Lillee' flat out asleep beside my leg on the arm chair, no photo of her welcoming us home as she would have only been a little blur in the photograph.
The last over heating episode was while trying to pull the trailer up Saint Peters Pass, it was nearly the finish for poor 'Fred's' engine, with steam coming out of the pressure cap, now it looks like a new head gasket should be fitted ( if only for my piece of mind ), as there are bubbles coming up in the coolant up the neck of the header tank when the engine is revved up. This wasn't happening before.
I had anticipated problems climbing this part of the highway and while stopped at Perth had phoned for Alex to meet me at the rest area near the top of the pass, in hind sight maybe I should have asked him to meet me at Antill Ponds instead before the long steep climb, along came AlexH with his silver 300 TDi D1 stead, hitched up to the loaded trailer then completed the trip back to my place. Alex had no trouble with the load behind his D1, that is good, but it does show how bad the cooling system of 'Fred' has got. Anyway a huge thanks also to Alex for his going out of his way to help me out.
The work that the Bacchus Marsh mob did on 'Fred', back flushing the radiator and gumming up the innards of the viscus coupling for the fan, did improved things greatly ( Thanks heaps Guys ), but long pull up Saint Peters Pass has been the way to heaven for many a engine and was nearly it for 'Fred' as well.
Without the load of the trailer on, 'Fred' didn't miss a beat, climbing Spring Hill and the Constitution Hill without the temperature moving from normal and didn't look like having any other problems either.
.
After threatening 'Fred' with the gas axe for his poor showing on tour in Victoria, he has been on his best behaviour since.
Fitted new viscous hub to 'Fred', took him for a drive to Claremont and back, the temperature gauge stayed on normal all the time. I checked the header tank while giving the engine a couple of rev's and there was no bubbles in the coolant ?????, maybe the head has a crack in it and the crack is only opening when the head is really hot?
I have a order in place from the UK for a new head and with a couple of other bits and pieces, the total with the freight is just over $ 900.
Unloaded the car trailer with the Massey Ferguson doing all the lifting, stacked the parts away in the sheds, then went down to the Service Tasmania to inquire about what is required to change over the trailers registration, then after finding about all the rigmarole of sending the old plates back and what paperwork is required and then I forgot to ask how much the cost would be --- fifty lashes!
The inspection at the local mechanical services place, to check to see if the trailer is ok to use on Tasmanian roads, will be $85.50
They require a weigh bridge ticket showing the unladen mass, went into the grain elevator to find out. $10
Need a price for another light truck tyre for the trailer's spare, to match the ones on the axles, will have to ask about this on Monday now.

Was the threat anything like this?
