ALDI compressors on sale again

I have had one of these for a while now. They're not too bad at all. The hose is a bit cheap and so is the gauge but the unit itself is pretty good.

I got to my nearest Aldi at 8.03 am and the car park was full of jacked up Nissan's and Yota's

Went in but everything had sold with about 40 people lining up at the tills. One chap had got three awnings in his trolley

I dashed down to a "not so popular" Aldi and got an awning, a compressor and picked up a high lift jack which a friend wants

They often restrict purchases to one for high popular stuff. not today though :P

So, I went in to grab an awning and 'Just look at' some other stuff. Seems I slipped in the water and dropped some other stuff in the trolley......

I was on doorstep of my local one at 0600 by 0830 the line was close to 200 at a guess, I was first in got what I wanted and out, it was mayhem....

I already have a clone of theis compressor (or at least of the first design).
It is a Tigerz11 version that cost $180ish last year at the 4wd show. It works well and the aldi one was $60 cheaper than SC on sale!

Note: Tigersz has a pressure release valve, Aldi not
Aldi has plastic sheath that completely covers the power clamps, less chance of arcing
Aldi one has a much larger but better case. Tigerz zip didn't last long.
Performance = heat.
I have had a hose perforate due to the heat and me pulling it 90deg from the body. Keep the hose as straight as you can keep a coiled hose

Went down to Aldi a little while ago to get an awning but already sold out. You have gotta be quick.

By the size of the bin they would have only had 2 or 3.

Well I just went down to the shops to have my afternoon cappuccino and afterwards I thought I would go back into Aldi to have a look at the other stuff that I did not have a look at this morning.

While browsing the 4wd stuff, thinking I might get an air compressor, I noticed the awning sign was still up but now had an added note that the big ones were stored elsewhere and to contact the staff - which I did only to be told, like I was in the morning, that they had all sold out .

The staff member was obviously annoyed being asked about them all the time pulled the sign down and stormed off - only to be challenged by another staff member asking why he pulled the sign down - response was "it is no use having the sign up if we don't have any" - response by the other staff member was "yes we do there are heaps of them out the back, they are just too big to put in the bins".

So I got my awning - I went for the 2.5m long one - a little bit long for the RRS but will also go on the 101 great so I can use on both.

So for those in Canberra - Weston Creek ALDI still has some but they are out the back.

For 5 years I have had a $70 ebay twin cylinder 150lpm air compressor that works great - on a 30 degree day can pump up a 9.00x16 (35") tyre from flat to 30psi in 5 minutes flat without activating the thermal overload and it has never let me down. However being an ebay jobby I have always had a concern that it might fail at the wrong time, so in view of the positive comments on here I also bought the Aldi compressor.

Later I will let two of my old 9.00x16 tyres down and will do a comparison between the two compressors.

Only one little hiccup re the compressor for me.
I plumbed mine into a RRC air suspension tank, so wanted to have rubber hose for the first 300mm or so and have a right angle attachment on the end of the handle to be able to place the air hose through the floor.
The thread on the quick connect on the handle is one unknown to man or not metric or BSP or whatever.
I had to go to an engineering shop to recut the thread on the compressor to match a normal right angle elbow.

Got the awning fitted and it seems as good as the one I've borrowed on previous occasions Bit tricky with the opening roof but I think it will be okay. Might need to brace a bracket I made as it wobbles a bit.

I was hoping to plumb the compressor in amongst some other bits in the wheel arch but it's too big to fit in Might have to take it back for a refund and go back to the drawing board.
