If any of you have tried to work out what position and what strength gas strut to use when custom building things, you soon realise it is not straightforward!
I have been doing scale drawings & etc to plan them out, and taking 4 or 5 goes to get it sorted.
Then I found this page:
Gasveren berekenen.
It is Dutch, but Google will translate it for you.
Enter your proposed dimensions on the 2nd tab, and it will animate the opening angles you will achieve. e.g. if you put the strut attachments too close together, then it shows that the door will not close.
The animation could be better (and maybe slower) but it saved me some head scratching, so maybe someone else will find it useful.
Cheers
David

I had thought about putting gas struts on Grumbles hood.
I had the same thoughts as you Spudboy , no idea where to locate or what sizes etc.
I await with anticip.p.p.p.ation
Can someone tell me how to get google to translate? I have never done this before.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Go to http://translate.google.com/ then in the left hand box put the web address in that you want translated. I leave it as 'Auto detect' and set the translate to to 'English'
Which should give you
Google Translate
I will be getting this thread stored, probably "the good oil" .
