So does a D3/4 have both a MAP sensor & a MAS?

Why both when they do something similar?

The MAF measures the air mass to derive the oxygen content. Early engines had one or the other sensor but using both provides more information.

Will grab a can on sat and give it a clean.
Will also check MAP sensor again too.
have those "how to remove the damn part" guides printed out so will now have no excuse.
Still have to figure out how to remove the LR spots though. Look to be a painful job.
Would anyone have a photo of where the MAF & MAP are located in the 2.7 TDV6 engine bay. If this is a simple thing to service might do it myself. Thanks (in advance)

5 seconds work with google . . .
Reading this thread got me thinking so I decided to check and clean, if required, my 3.0L D4 MAF and MAP sensors. The two MAF sensors are easy enough to get to and on checking one was in a grubby state and the other reasonably clean. Out with the trusty can of CRC MAF cleaner and hey presto a clean sensor. I also gave the other one a shot of the cleaning stuff just for luck!
On removing the MAP sensor I was certainly surprised to find it totally blocked with a black oily gunck! I used a very small jewellers screwdriver (very carefully) to scrape the gunck out. Cleaned it all up and put the sensor back into its mount then started the old girl up. Idle seems smoother. Anyhow I have yet to go for a run to see how it is at highway speed. That a tomorrow jobby!
