for my piece of mind I have asked the Mech to check the exhaust gasses for correct mixture.
For various reasons I've been trying to fit a 4.6 MAF to my 4.6 D2.
Various people have said the RR 4.6 THOR inlet ducting will fit.
No.
No it wont.
while obviously the maf fits fine and it bolts right up to the plenum chamber,, the ducting shape is wrong and the baffle bottles/resonance chambers/air storage bulbs face downwards, hitting the aircon piping.
Maybe a RR airbox lid will help(but only a bit).
I have been told again only recently the 4L D2 ECU runs lean over 1500rpm, so adding 600cc's plus a caravan equals disaster.
I am quite happy to continue chasing the 4.6 Maf solution,,
Does anyone here have a comment on the differing sizes and whether they actually will make any difference?

Update! 24.11.2015
no obvious concerns running my 4.6 on the 4L ECM/Maf.
Towed the van for 6months with no problems(well no that problem)
At the end of the trip I purchased the 4.6 Tornado ECM upgrade. This tranforms the engine.
