    Timing Belt

    Found this on the tube

    We did one over the easter weekend.

    Took about 1 hr and 30 mins from "go to woah".

    That was great.

    Having a band of gypsies playing along helps.

    As well as the rest of the vehicle being removed

    I didn't quite catch the critical torque settings though.

    Was that on a 300 Tdi?

    Did you pull the radiator out?

    I'm going to do my timing belt and P Gasket (in between timing belt housing and block) and I've been thinking it will just be easier to rip the radiator out

    My partner is of Hungarian/Jewish extraction and she sang along in Yiddish.

    She wouldn't know a timing belt from a flat tyre.

    We did it with the radiator in. It was on Dad's D1 HS2.8, so I'd say 300tdi is near identical. Rad out will give a bit more room, though.

    Hmm.. I was hoping to do this with the rad in... May have to reconsider

    Both the cam belt & 'P' gasket are fine with the rad in place... It is the fan which you need to remove.
