    New Land Rover

    Hello:
Recently purchased a 1984 Land Rover Series lll wagon from New Zealand. The registration notes that the Landy was first registered in New Zealand in 1984 so am assuming it was a CKD assembled down there. The Landy has a few needs that I'm currently addressing and thought that some of you may be able to point me in the right direction.
Looking for replacement tailight lenses" Hella, made in Australia, RD# 54519". There are also some holes in both the drivers (RHD) and passengers footwells as well as the LHS door post. There is a company in Vermont (www.roversnorth.com) that appears to have the necessary parts....some appear to bolt in & others appears to be attached via welding or some type of adhesive. My question: is this job within the scope of an amateur or should it be referred to a professional??
Many thanks for your input.......I hope to be a frequent visitor to your website!

    G'day LTCTerry

Welcome to AULRO.com website and forum The AF part of the Vin number denotes that it is a CKD vehicle(AA=UK build), there should also be a build ID plate on it somewhere, usually on the interior side of the firewall/cabin, or on the radiator support panel,if it is an Australian CKD build it will have a Pressed Metal Corp. plate with a body No staped into it and also an Aust ADR plate,(this vehicle as manufactured to comply with ADR 27/27a Etc.)

I can't give you any details as to what NZ plates would have been fitted, but they will be roughly similar, built by,to comply with,

    cheers

    New Land Rover

    Thanks Gents:
This is my first Land Rover. Am retired from the US Army and have a farm where we have sheep, alpacas, chickens & geese. Have a little hobby of restoring EPW (early post war) Bentleys and Jaguars. Am involved with the Bentley Drivers Club & the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, where I set up monthly activities for the Club. My wife & I are leading a group of 30 Bentleys & Rolls-Royces, along with 66 people, on a week long Tour of Oregon in September.
Can only think my time in the Army drew me to the rather austere shape of the Landy. The fellow I bought the Landy from in Auckland was not particulary honest with me about the Landy's condition........hence the work that lies ahead.
    Thanks again for your help!!

    New Land Rover

    Hello Again:
Walked back to the shop & got some #s:
    Engine #: 361354490
There is a plate on the firewall with the chassis # and another #: LM2936...or possibly LM 2938....can't quite make out the last digit.
Replaced some wiring & now have all lights working. Any thoughts where I might find the Hella tailight lenses??
    Many Thanks!!

    Hey Terry,

I am unsure whether the lenses you seek are NZ specific or Land Rover specific or both.

I get all my LR stuff here in New Zealand from Mamaku 4WD. They have a very good mail delivery service and I cannot see any reason why you cannot get stuff sent state-side from them. Rate of exchange is certainly favourable to you.

    Marcel or Vicki.

    All the best,

PS, Need pictures of the migrant Land Rover too please...

    Parts

Hi, I too too buy most of my parts from Mamuku 4wd, or you can try 'www.paddockspares.com' in the UK or Johncraddock.com, do a search, these addresses are 'approximate', Roversnorth' could be worth a shot as well.

Sorry a Kiwi was a dis-honest bastard, we're not all like that!!

    Jack
