    New/Different Injectors?

OMVL DREAM XXI system on D2 4.6

Coming home this afternoon it dropped X amount of cylinders,, switched to PULP and it ran fine. I would think the system is a few years old now, we've put over 50K on it and the odometer is at 140K.
It has spat an injector previously and a second hand one installed.

    The question is--
are there better injectors out there?

Generally if a LPG ECU sees an open circuit injector it won't run on gas at all, it just shuts down. Therefore if it was still running the more likely answer is that the injectors are either sticking or jamming open due to wear. I don't normally see many worn out injectors but sticky ones more frequently. Undo the injector rails, then blow carby cleaner backwards through each injector until the inlet junction to that rail runs clear. It may also be time to clean or replace the vapour filter/s.

As for quality, I can't really comment as I don't see many OMVL systems. I did just buy a second hand OMVL kit off ebay cheap, condition unknown but probably OK. In any case if you swap injectors for a different type you will have to tune them in with a tuning cable and software package. These are available on ebay if you look.

and as usual I have no idea

There are 8 wires running to the left bank and the issue was a rubbed through wire.

I need to figure out how one wire stopped the whole bank--

4 of the 8 wires to each bank are actually joined together back in the harness as they are the positive supply for that rail. If sufficient current flowed out of the rubbed through wire the injectors may not open. I'd expect the main fuse to blow but perhaps the draw was just under the fuse rating.

it would seem the current required to operate an injector is not much at all!

surely LPG injectors have improved like normal ones?
    what about these?

    Keihin Injectors
These are low resistance injectors, 1.25 ohms, and shouldn't be used to replace higher resistance types unless approved by the manufacturer. OMVL injectors are 2.8 ohm, you'd probably fry the ECU using the Keihin injectors.

I remember getting a set of them, noisy as hell and prone to stripping the plastic threads holding them together, also not dismantleable for thorough cleaning.

Frankly I don't know of any brand of injectors that is 100% reliable, you're better off getting the same injectors as you already have at a lower cost and keeping the cleaned old ones as spares. This saves having to recalibrate the software for each injector change.

Oh and Inc, why does that stupid ebay widget take us to ebay in the US?
