    MLS head gasket for 300tdi

Where can I get a good quality one?

According to some of the Brit forums, the Britpart one is *****...

(I tried the search function, but it only searches for "300tdi")

Paddocks are listing I think Elrig as genuine. I have had bad experiences with aftermarket head gaskets. Though I helped a mate replace a bounty head and the aftermarket gasket was a match for the original.

Do these come in different thicknesses for the 300tdi? I've got a head to replace and was considering buying the 2-3 most common culprits as I won't be able to measure and confirm until it's apart.

Yes they do, 0 1 2 or 3 hole - 3 hole if you are unsure what was originally fitted.

Britpart is like that. Quality varies between item, manufacture date and where/who the part is sourced from.

Ensure you get your head checked for warping/cracks etc and square the deck up or it won't matter what brand you get.

Last Elring gasket I sourced was from British 4WD down in Hobart here - they express post and the prices are somewhat fair when you add up the shipping cost & delay from the UK.

    G'day Dougal ...

We had no trouble with the Elring product that was supplied by Turners (UK) with one of their assembled heads.

As far as thickness goes, they supply the thickest if none is specified, otherwise order in accordance with what you have installed now (the gauging hole/s is/are visible on the gasket where it protrudes from the head/block joint, or you could say it overlaps the deck ).

Thanks guys. My engine has been molested before so I have no confidence that the current gasket is correct. I'll have measurements to take.

That link confirms what I thought I had read another time. In order of thickness the number of holes is 1, 2, 3, 0. Subtle, but could be important!
