internal diameter of a 17" steel rim

hi guys, i was wondering if anyone had a set of steel 17" sunraysia rims and could be ever so kind of taking a measurement of the internal diameter...aka i need it to fit a car that has larger brakes and will not fit the standard 17 alloy rims.

this is based off the presumption that due to the strength of the material would allow for the extra room needed.

any help will be greatly appreciated

The 17" only fit D3 and D4 with the 2.7l engine and small brakes.

For the same thickness, the alloys are stronger, so I doubt the steels would have greater internal diameter.

    Cheers,

    Gordon

(should probably be a little more specific - the LR alloy rims are stronger than equivalent spun steel rims - other types of steel rims may be stronger, but heavier)

Ok, So doing some brake part search it appears that the pads are the same number, LR019618 for the front.
Can this be confirmed with someone with 17's fitted?

The (workshop manual) parts catalogue shows the same caliper and pad set part numbers for D3 and pre MY10 (05-09) RRS 2.7 and V8 front brakes but different brackets, discs and splash shields (for the V8 vs 2.7).

Edit: Should have written parts catalogue.

Thanks, do you know if the 17 will fit this particular D3?

I don't know which particular D3 you're referring to but they all have the same hubs and knuckles except for the hole sizes for the smaller or larger ball joints, ie the same mounting points for the 2 different caliper brackets.

It might help if you tell us what model Discovery you want to fit the 17s too.

17s will fit all 2.7l diesel and 4.0l V6 petrol Discoverys.

Its for a full sized range rover, Td6. The brake pad part numbers are the same.
I test fitted some over the weekend and had no success. The caliper size is roughtly the same however there is a peak on there that just doesnt clear.
Thanks anyway guys...I had to go 20" rims haha
