Retaining top of the front springs??

How can I retain the top of the front springs on full articulation?

Rears are sorted with retaining plates and hose clamps.

Bottom of the front springs are retained with plates.

How do I retain the top of the front springs?

I have done a search and came up with nothing specific to how to retain the top of the fronts.

    Any ideas?
    Cheers

Simple Mick, Just use the correct length shockies so the springs don't come out.

I used to have this problem on my 77RRC with 2 inch lift.
One of the problems is if the spring is short and stiff. This stops the spring from "bending" to follow the angle required when the axle drops right away.
Mine used to unseat at the bottom and bang back in with an almighty clang.
Maybe think about longer and softer springs. I didn't have the problem when I went from the blue springs back to LRA red or green which were 160Lb rate rather than very stiff. If you have more lift or down travel go for an even longer softer spring. Defenders are a similar weight to RRcs at the front.

Thanks Phillip. Was really hoping to not have to change springs. Very happy with the front end.

    LRA Purple-Orange 220lb at 18inch long.

Everyone talks about retaining springs and I absolutely agree but until now I haven't had to retain the front's.

    LRA Purple-Orange 220lb at 18inch long.
So you have about 4inches lift?

Those springs are usually used as rear springs in an RRC without hydromat or D1 to give about 3-4 inch lift. I had Orange in my RRC for 2 inch lift .

Without knowing your setup, I cannot comment further , but IMHO your primary problem is too high a rate , but I don't know if longer softer springs are available.

    Sorry. They're purple/yellow fronts 220lb @ 15.5 inch.

My only real issue at the moment is front springs popping out when articulated.

I thought there may have been a way of retaining them without changing springs or using dislocation cones. I'm not trying to be cheap I just like the set up I have minus this issue.

Looks like I'll be making something.
