    Famous last words (AULRO Style)

    Real or fictional all welcome

    I'll start us off:

"Go on, drive through it, it doesn't look that deep."

"If you do get stuck, we'll be able to get you out, no problem."

"I'll just order two, they can't be that expensive."

"I'll have it back on the road in a couple of days"

    Keep them going..............

" I'M NOT GOING TO GET IT MUDDY "
A mate of mine with a comp shorty V8 cruiser out at the four wheel drive track at the Aust National Field Days yesterday.
He then went and drove into the biggest bog hole there and after drawing a crowd by working the V8 feverishly to get out, it stalled and wouldn't re-start.
I had to skull drag him out as a complete dead weight.
It took some serious effort and I dug some impressive holes in the hard dry dirt with my muddies.

"A mate did that track last week"
    "Breakage was inevitable"
"I didn't think you'd actually do what I said to"
"I forgot to warn you about that"
"I'll do it if you will"
"The Patrol will get the Hilux out no worries"
...this was followed by a 2nd Patrol coming to rescue the 1st Patrol, got stranded also, and I get a 2am phone call for my 'nearly stock at the time' Wrangler to rescue the whole lot of them! )

"We didn't have any problems getting out that way last time we were down here"

"You've got front and rear lockers - no worries she will do it easy"

Both statements led to 3 hours backtracking

Yes,been there lots with the,"This job will only take me a hour or two"and after frozen/broken bolts, part did not quite fit,etc,8 hours later the 1 hour job is done and your weekend has gone.
Also the last bolt or screw you go to remove will be the one that breaks off,not the first bolt.
Like right now,4 months ago i brought a tidy 1995 Defender,i looked at it and told the wife that i will just give it a quick tidy up.
Now i have a bare body shell sitting on a chassis, and have decided that as i have gone this far i might as well pull the motor/gearbox out so i can replace the clutch etc and rebuild the gearbox, also i good time to make fit sill fuel tanks, and do a few other jobs,
    Wife does not look happy.
Should have its quick"tidy up" finished early next year.(i hope)
We were meant to go away in it this Xmass, down south,ha ha.
    Again,wife not amused.

Said quietly to yourself - it's kind of a chant/prayer:

"Look, if you prepare yourself mentally for a bill of about $900 even though it's only going to be a normal service. When it's less you be relieved and if they've found something you'll be ready"

....They find something and it's $1200
