yeah happened to me all the time....
just put some jubilee clips around them to hold the springs in or get a proper spring retaining kit ![]() I had my spring tied in with a baggage strap for over a year to stop it popping out off road..now I have relocation cones

Where does one get these "relocation cones" from ? In Australia !!
Are they better than the old straps I bought from Les richmond 20 years ago ? Last edited by 400HPONGAS; 17th March 2010 at 08:54 PM. Reason: add the bit about Australia |

We use exhaust clamps to hold the springs in on the county, work perfectly, and you won't break them unlike hose clamps

OME springs are usually a very high rate compared to standard so the spring is shorter unladen than a softer spring will be for the same ride height. It could be that the shocks are too long but probably because the spring is too short. If you do not have extended bump stops and you have long shocks, sooner or later you will destroy them on maximum jounce so maybe check you have 2CM up travel on the shock when the axle is on the bumpstop.. The short answer is you can retain them with dislocation cones or clamps, but I do not think either are legal and really it is a band aid. Limit straps are another fix to stop the spring extending . I had this on my old 77 RRC with Lovells springs, when on the front they would SPROING off the seat on max extension. Fixed it with LRA springs Red AFAIR. Regards Philip A |
