Cheap "Polyairs"
I am now up to 10 tennis balls per side.
Definite reduction in loaded sag. No real offroading done yet, although a simple ramp tests shows a better front / rear articulation balance.

Ummm........Polyairs or the like are designed to provide an adjustable load carrying assistance. Almost an adjustable/inflatable bumpstop. Don't like your chances of retaining all the tennis balls all the time, or more specifically when you need them.
If your suspension is too low without a load...look at replacing the coil. Longer coils have an articulation benefit.
Not a new idea though.

Mine are adjustable. I started with 7 balls per side. Then when I needed to tow a caravan I put three more in per side. If I decide that has limited my rear suspension travel I will take some out.
It takes about the same amount of time to put balls in and out as putting air in and out. Where is the down side?
Incidentally polyairs don't act as a bump stop. They fill the gaps between the coils to increase the spring rate.

I don't think the rear is too low when unloaded. I think it is spot on.
What are the articulation benefits of longer springs? Up travel is limited by the bumpstops, down travel is limited by shock length.

I did this with my 120" when it blew out a Polly bag a wile back.
Worked quite well and actually made the coil more progressive than the air bag ever did
One of the RTA boys spotted it when I had a load of seed oats on it on my way to Merriwa
He promptly collapsed in a heap laughing
Then tried to tell me its unsafe
Said the tennis balls are not rated for that load, I contested this by pointing out the tennis ball is subjected to a much higher load when a pro tennis player get hold of it
I didn't have them in for long enough to find out but it sure got me out of strife.
The 120 needed 15 tennis balls to do the job, the last few took some shoving in

I travelled most of the way around Australia in '91 with "Air suspension by Slazenger". A guy at Kunnanurra told me about it as the rear tyres were hitting the guards on my fully loaded rangie with camper trailer. Even did the Strezlecki on the way back. Worked a treat. Have photos but not digital at that stage so can't post up.
