    TD5 Alive I.C

Received my TD5 Alive upgraded Intercooler and boost box last week. Actually 2 of them, one for each disco in the houshold

I bought the TD5 Alive cooler because nobody in Aust could come near the price delivered to Alice. (including allwances for GST etc) any way it is a very nice bit of gear and core size is 55 x 240 x 640 (mm)
    Perfect fit, no fiddling.

I have posted some EGT figures for the info of anyone interested.
These are based on a manual TD5 D2 with 245/70/16 ATR tyres, carrying nearly 100kg of extra weight in bars, batteries and accessories.
The EGT is an Auberins unit with K type probe, pre turbo. Pics in previous posts.

Please note this is not a reccommendation for setup or boost figures but simply info. that will interest the average punter on what to expect from ECU, I.C upgrades.

805 NB– above 750 for for 6 seconds before reduction and stabilized@ 495

When adjusting boost I first ensured the std boost was achieved using the nanocom, then adjusted the wastegate actuator rod IAW Alive tuning instructions. This resulted in a Nanocom reading of 1.42 bar before the ECU faulted.
Fitting the Boost Box was very easy which then gave the Nancom a reading of 0.95 Bar.

More infoThe other D2 in our drive way has "Auto meter" boost gauge and EGT monitor (post turbo). The EGT readings are on average 120 dgrees cooler than on the pre turbo probe.
The boost gauge suggests a max of 23 PSI before stabilising at 21 psi, tee'd from the modulator take off tube.

Interestingly while further adjustment of the wastegate rod was able to achieve 25 PSI on the boost gauge, there was a displayed reduction to 0.88 bar on the Nanocom with the boost box fitted.

Overall I am very happy with the mods.

    cheers

I have a puma and I am considering getting a Alive intercooler.
Your figures make it quite clear the ability of their intercooler to
reduce Egt and therefore protect the engine components, thanks.
I have just purchased a Atric and awaiting delivery, with the intention
to upgrade the intercooler and decat. I do not wish to stress components
but to prolong durability. This may have a positive effect on fuel consumption
as I drive in a conservative manner.

    Hey Strangy,

can you recall what your inlet manifold temps where / are? I'm curious to know what kind of temps are normal post intercooler and see how others stack up against what I get.

    Cheers

Hi Mools, sorry for the delay in reply.

I was only able to measure outside ambient temp and inlet air temp.

Outside Ambient temp was 22 deg c and inlet air temp (pre turbo) measured the same.

    cheers
