    FYRLYT Driving Lights

Anyone seen these before - FYRLYT Home ?

I really like the look of them, and they make big claims, but I'm not about to shell out my hard earned for a pair unless I have some real world feedback from people who have them.

    Any thoughts, comments or experiences?

    Cheers - Gav.

They're not a bad looking light - appear to be well designed.

Advertising is obviously aimed squarely at the Lightfarce - which are vastly over-rated in any case, so not difficult to produce something that knocks them off their pedestal.

Not sure about their technology in changing from spot to spread beam by simply "turning" the base of the globe. Sounds like they are simply moving the globe in and out of the light body, changing its position in relation to the reflector. If so - this is actually pretty poor design, as it is definitely NOT the best way to change the pattern of a light beam.

And their claim that they out-perform HID using incandescent globes - well I'd have to see that to believe it, but highly doubt it.

Decent looking mounting brackets though. Definitely not the most solid out there, but better than any of the plastic fantastic offerings - and simple to adjust in comparison to some of the other more robust mounting systems (such as Hella).

The proof will be in the eating though - would love to see a set in direct comparison to some of the better lights on the market (and I don't include Lightfarce in that category).
    Cheers .........

FYRLYT is made by the the same guy who designed Lightforce.
Basically he has incorporated design features he always wanted to put into the Lightforce units but was unable to for various internal reasons. He split from them some time ago and started again.
I have these in my showroom as I am a distributor for them.

Thought you might have them Andrew when I read who the WA distributor is. Will have to drop in there sometime when I'm down in Perth and see just what goodies you do have in there.

Would definitely be interested in having a look at these - they look to be stronger and certainly better waterproofed than what I have at the moment - though I doubt if I could be convinced to go back to Halogen from HID.

I haven't seen them I operation yet but we have fitted up a couple of new Freightliners with them.
Pretty keen to find out how good they are as I'm on the verge of needing a set for the D2. They definitely look good however they are still a GL6 globe as is the Lightforce. They also lack the "roo-shooter" globe as does the LF which is the first thing that gets changed if you want sharp light.

Thanks for that - If you get any feedback on how they perform, it would be great if you can post it here for us. Also, what is the price of these units - including the 12 to 24 volt converters?

I will have a look into pricing and see if I can work out an AULRO discount.

I'm trying to get them to give me an "R&D" set so I can try it but just need someone to come up with an ARB bar for a D2a at the right price so I have somewhere to put them ;/

    OK I've crunched some numbers.

The model we carry here is the 24v 150w 5000lumen version mainly as they are used for longhaul trucks so 12v is a poor cousin option.
Model number is 16024. AULRO price is $360 incl GST per light body.
When using the 24v unit on 12v systems, a single step up transformer is also required. This unit has a minimum continuous rating of 300w so both lights are connected to a single unit.
Part number is 16035, AULRO price $110 incl GST.
So basically, $830 all up for two 24v lights and a step up trannie.
I can freight all over the country by a number of different means. Each will need to be dealt with individually depending on where you are.
I won't do a bulk purchase so they can be ordered at your leisure.

    Cheers

Thanks for that Andrew. If they are as good as they claim, I think I will end up with a pair.

Do you have any feedback on them yet? It's probably the only thing that is stopping me ordering them now. I don't want to end up being the guinea pig...
