I hate seeing myself on video but had to be done

watch the vids see if you can tell what the noise is terrible video but I am running out of ideas. There are a few times you see the truck shudder and here a bit of banging it feels like something is slipping and grabbing intermittently and causing a backlash style bang but with a weird slipping movement inside the box or transfer. Seriously even writing this it doesnt make any sense but give it a go if yas dont mind could really do with any help. I cant drive it too far but if anyone even wanted to come check it out and go for a drive more than willing on my side. Coolum sunshine coast.

Don't really know, but it can only be a matter of time before something totally fails. Even from the video it looks pretty savage.
I do remember a mate telling me when his centre diff let go, if he kept the power on there would be an almighty bang and it would take up drive again - obviously as all the bits locked up.

Does driving with the centre locked make any difference ??

First I would be checking out the rear uni-joint on the front tailshaft, then the gearbox and engine mounts, when I say check I mean get under with a number of solid bars and really put some effort in trying to move things around. If you cant find anything loose underneath, I would move onto pulling the diff centres and checking for loose/undoing crown wheel bolts, also check front CV joints. The worst till last drop the G/box/TC out and check internals, good luck, let us all know what the problem is when you get it sorted. It is extemely hard to diagnose a problem at a distance, suggest you find another close by AULRO bloke to have a listen, good luck, Regards Frank.

    What gearbox/transfer?

I'd be dropping the oils in gearbox and transfer, and if they look OK then the diff oils. I recently broke a front diff and the bits inside were jamming up occasionally, but the noise seemed to be coming from the gearbox.

Have checked that your gearbox and engine mounts are still attached?

The way it was jumping around suggests something more to do with suspension. Is everything tight that needs to be tight, and nothing broken?

I would have thought that if it were the internals of the gearbox or diffs then you have lost drive by now.

ty for the responses, So far i have had the whole front diff apart and had tail shafts off, check uni's all that seems to be ok. it feels like it is coming from gearbox my next endeavour is to pull the centre diff out although I will be trying Bushies idea of locking centre diff will get back to yas soon on that
thanx again and yes it is Savage when it occurs.

The test with the lock on made a big difference. I pull up on a hill and tried to pull away with out and no go, bang bang and more bang
then did same with cdl on and she pulled away nice, but, it did bang again on way home with diff lock on but certainly not to the intensity of without diff lock

Another suggestion, the centre diff bolts can work loose and start hitting the inside of the transfer case. This happened to my mates rangie and eventually jammed his whole drive line. Another suggestion is a broken tooth on a gear floating around in the transfer case. Is it a LT230 transfer?

I have had these bangs before and it sounded like it was coming from the transfer but it was the crown wheel and pinion teeth had sheared in the rear diff.

bloody hope not. the ratios i hope are the same not the easiest part to get a hold of u know that front diff is rare.! i did have a bloke offer me one but reneged on deal when i told him i was ready to come get it even tho i was willing to pay his exorbitant price for it. wish i could remember members name all i do know is he was pom.

i also assume it is the lt95 considering it has the cdl mentioned further down
