If your plenum rattles check yer trumpets

Today's job on a '94 RRC, tighten one trumpet and reinstall. I slightly peened the base of the trumpet on the anvil nose to make it a tighter fit, and loctited it back in.

Wish I'd seen this about 5 hours ago Bee Utey, I have a top end rattle that only happens at high revs, and I had the plenum top off this afternoon to change a leaky rocker cover gasket.

Would have been one more thing to tick off the list as being a possible cause!

Sorry I'm late, its been a hard week and I am just winding down!

Anyway, taking the plenum off is not a big job, 1/2 hour each way.

Tips like this are always gratefully received, Bee Utey! I vaguely remember reading a post on this a while ago, but it never even occurred to me while I had the plenum apart yesterday afternoon.

Oh well, I'll stick the rags on again later and take it apart again.

And if you go through water occasionally, check your trumpets too.

I had one like in the picture above but no rattle.
Went through a puddle, air filter copped a bit of water & where did it go?

Straight down the cylinder with the loose trumpet .

The broken conrod now adorns my radiator grille.
