D2 Td5 auto box recondition cost.

    Afternoon all.
Starting to get a tad apprehensive reading some posts about the autobox in the D2s, particularly Td5s, as mine is coming up on 230k kms.
Trying to get the finances in order for the next year, so any help is greatly appreciated Wondering what the cost of a recondition would be?
Or do they have to be replaced, and if so at what cost?
    Cheers

Why are you worrying, is the Box playing up, mine is coming up on 450,000klms+ and still OK. Haven't you heard of "if it ain't broke don't fix it", good advice, Regards Frank.

Yeah Frank, I'm not planning on it breaking any time soon
My car has been fantastic in parts lasting longer than expected, I'm just being a good boy scout and being prepared
    Box runs beautifully.

Give it a drink of some new ATF, and dont scrimp on what you use, and you will get plenty of life out of it.

Regular oil changes are a must, just like you do for the engine, just not quite so often...

The faves seem to be Castrol Transmax Z, or Nulon Fully Synthetic.

I personally use Nulon everywhere, but it is personal choice.

Depending on how you interpret the arduous duty service schedule you could reasonably assume that the ATF should be done at 20K km intervals.

Since I've been towing the van I've kept records of how many HOURS I've towed for.

I have no idea how this will work out or when to say enough though,,

I doubt it will get anywhere near 20K distance--
