Hi All,
the old Range Rover Classic here has twin solexs. It runs really well, but seems to run lean at small throttle openings... and the idle speed increases considerably when warm. It's likely an inlet side air leak somewhere (). Given it's close to 30years old I figured sticking a carby kit through each carby and giving them a good clean wouldn't hurt.
There seems to be no details on the solex carbies anywhere. I can find the carby kits for the zeniths and stronburgs, but the solexes ........................
Anyway, is there any tip or tricks I need to know. Eg: the early solex pcib fitted to 60's model cars ... if you touch the air jet in the center of the carbies choke, you will without doubt sheer it off. Is there anything I need to be aware of with the carbies on the RRC

I think you will find the Zenith and Solex 175Cds are the same carb.

Sorry - cannot help with that. All I know is that they are a fairly robust carb and once set up stay pretty well tuned - the main issue is to keep the dash pots topped up with oil.
My Jag has four of these carbs and in the 30 years I have owned it the carbs have never been touched and as indicated in another thread I started it up a while back after a number of years not running and once warmed up ran at a nice smooth idle.
I replaced the diaphrams on my 3.5 a little while back as a precaution and other than that, the carbies have never been touched and run very well but it does use dashpot oil.
Good luck
Garry

That's good to know. I wonder if one of the dashpots is empty ...hmm... The guy I bought the car from was pretty thorough in changing every fluid I've come across so far.
This seems like quite a good article on the type of carb these use:
