Been mentioned a few times, apparently a bosch holden pump can also be fitted. I went thru similar with my triumph motorbike, pump was $400+ if i could find one, turned out it was a denso unit same as fitted to Magna's - $75 from Bursons![]()
Hi all
Not sure if this information has been shared or not but I recently saved $240 on a replacement fuel pump for my Disco after it **** itself while shopping.
I called a few suppliers and the prices were all coming in at around $400 for the new pump and sender unit which in my opinion is really pretty steep.
Anyway with a big thank you to Martin at Hyper Tuned in Cairns when I called him for the pump he offered to order me one at $390 odd but then told me that if I wasn't afraid of a bit of fiddling then there was a cheaper option.
This cheaper option is in the form of a part number FPE-371. This is only the small metal pump that sits inside the clip on section on the bottom of the plastic pump housing/sender unit. It came with the pump, a new strainer and olive, al electrical female-female crimp, replacement pump cushion and replacement wires for the pump and sender unit incase those push on connections inside the clip are loose.
The whole lot: $136 and next day pickup.
So instead of a fuel pump being a $500 affair mine has just cost me a total of $175 including and inline filter and little tin of vaso.
Like I say I'm not sure if this is fairly common knowledge or not but it's worth sharing just incase. :-)

The Bosch pump is 70-90 dollars, first time I did the job, about 4 hrs due to scuba gas cylinders second time due to non submersible fuel line bursting half an hour. Gary
Yup, Bosch part number BFP772, I've fitted quite a few. I've experimented with crushing the old pump outlet fitting between two blocks of wood so you can reuse the concertina pressure hose. Once you've crushed the plastic fitting you extract the bits and refit the hose using a common EFI hose clamp on the new pump.
Mine died on a sunday night, I rang Justin Cooper he told me to go get a commodore one (BFP772 ?) and a new plug... total price was $70.00 pump, plug, short bit of hose and clamps...
