Yeah, would like to hear some ideas on disco tyres too - please.
97 disco v8 on gas.
what would be the largest diameter/width muddies that i can get under the guards without lift kits?
any tyre brand/model suggestions would be welcome.

I think that the consensus (speling) () was for 245/70 but it will scrub on full articulation. Thats what im going to go for next.

245/70 is a good choice
There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours
I run 245/75 16 BFG on my disco and the only problem is they rub a bit on full lock but i don't use that very often

Just bringing this back to the top. Would like to get some Muddies, 245/70 R16, but they don't seem very available. Don't think Coopers make STTs in that size, the Goodyear MTRs are not available. Idea Please??
I run 245/70's on my 2001 series 2 disco and nothing rubs at all. I fitted Bridgestone AT Duelers and seem to work pretty well in the slop. Better than the standard fit Michelins.
I too have been looking around for some muddies to stick on the steel rims I've got coming my way sometime soon. You're right though. Cooper don't make STT in 245/70 or 235/70 but they do ST's in both sizes. The ST's are more agressive than the Bridgestone AT's I'm running at the present and will probably fit the ST's to the steelies. 8O

I dont know about standard height, I have a 2" lift and fitted 265/70 Toyo's didnt rub but I had to adjust the turning circle bolts. After those tyres I got a set of 265/75 All Terains, and promptly bent up my rear guards. Now I am going to cut out the guards along the rubber strip, throw away the rear bumperbar and make up a rear bash guard/wheel holder, mush the same as a Kaymar for Toyotas.
My advise dont go bigger than 245/75 or 85 anything unless you want to learn about panel beating
Cheers
