    Low Level Coolant Alarms

This topic has been touched on in previous posts but not explored.

I am aware of this one:

    http://www.fdrive.com.au/Datatron%20Coolan...vel%20Flyer.pdf

There may be another one invented and sold by a Canberran but I've lost the link.

Has anyone fitted a low level alarm? Any views?

At this risk of accusations of spurious posting note that the Fdrive brochure shows a picture of a Disco. Is this saying something?

Yep, I have them fitted to a 300Tdi and a TD5. The TD5 fitment requires two sensors in the expansion bottle. You can't miss them if they go off and I would not go anywhere without one given what happens to these motors if you drop a hose, belt or blow a waterpump without noticing the temp gauge. Also have the brass plug replacements which should have been used by Land Rover in the first place.

Land Rover Spares in Mackay sell these kits. Contact no. is 0749575854 and ask for Trevor. as far as I know they are the only ones fitting these to TD5's.

    Regards, Barry

PS. mine is just a small light/alarm on the dash. Nothing like the box in the advertising leaflet on the website above.

    Good oil, lrdef110.

I have had the full tragedy happen and a rebuild as a result.

The brass plugs should be the first thing changed. Needless to say I now have them. $10 or so is cheap insurance.
