    9.00 x 16 tyres

OK, not strictly a LR tech question but close.

a mate who has a M-37 dodge is having trouble finding tyres that he can afford in 900x16 sixe. From memory, this is the size the the Foward controll models and the 101 run. So what is available and at what cost. Best he has found so far has been near $1,000 a tyre, there has to be better than that :!:

I'm not sure about price, but try the following website for antique tyres. They have a large selection of truck and military tyres available (at least on their online order form) with photos and sizes. They are located in Heidelberg (Melbourne).

They have Military NDT (Bar Tread) tyres in 900x16

Michelin XZL-one of most durable, tough tyre available in this world.
9.00x16 should be no more than $400 each.
But they are not easy to find, as most production take army (in many countries).

    Hi Phoenix
Last time I was chasing 900x16 tyres I was told that they were no longer imported into Aus,people with OKAs had to change to a 18 inch rim or use 825x16s.Lately I have spotted a mitsi 4WD crewcab truck,it has tyres that look like a 900x16 size but were metric,255/100/16,pretty sure they were michelin with a fairly agressive offroad tread.

XZL was another that I was looking at adam. $400 a ture is a good price for them, you don't pay much less that that for them in the 760R16.

Somebody else mentioned that the metric equivelant was 255/100/16, but i'll pass that on to him, not sure if he knows.

There is a Metric Equivilent available branded as SILVERSTONE but it is a very aggressive tread pattern.

That won't worry him, he's more keen on an agressive tread than a less agressive one. Trick is to see weather it will take the weight as the vehicle with the radio body on will be quite heavy.

I met a guy from the UK the other week who brought a 101 camper van over for his holidays. The vehicle will be based in the antipodes (down under) and he will fly over every year for his holidays.

He had 900x16 (ex-MOD) which he said were less than $100AUD each. At that price it might be worth finding a group of people interested in 900x16s and importing a couple of pallet loads.

Tell him to try Tim Vibert http://www.timvibert.com/ - if they are the same 9.00x16 that I use on my Ferret then I think Tim has some.
