Anyone know the PCD of Defender rims, or how to calculate it?

And what, exactly, does 7J 16 AH2-33 mean? 7 inches wide, 16 inch diameter, but the rest is a mystery.

thanks

I can't help with the AH2 bit, but the 33 is the offset in mm. The Defender rims (except 130) and all Disco rims have a 33mm offset i.e., the centre line of the rim is 33mm inwards (towards the brake disc) from the mounting face. 130 rims have a 20.6mm offset.

Hopefully someone else can help out with the AH2 bit.

The "J" is something to do with the flange that the tyre bead sits on. I can't find good pictorial examples, but I stole the following text from <span style="color:darkblue"> here (about half way down) </span>(Note: You'll have to go to the site to see the picture he's talking about).

<span style="color:darkred">They say a picture is equivalent to a thousand words, so study this one carefully. It's one of the wheels off my own car. Enlarged so you can read it is the wheel information described above. You'll notice it reads "6J x 14 H2 ET45". The "6J x 14" part of that is the size of the wheel rim - in this case it has a depth of 6 inches and a diameter of 14 inches (see the section directly below here on wheel sizes for a more in-depth explanation). The "J" symbolises the shape of the mounting surface of where the tyre sits. This runs around the front and back of the wheel rim. You may have noticed that some wheels have a "JJ" description; this is mainly on 4x4s as the tyre can be held on more securely with a double mating face.
The "H2" means that this wheel rim is designed to take "H" speed-rated tyres. The "ET45" figure below that though symbolises that these wheels have a positive offset of 45mm. In other words, they have an inset of 45mm. In my case, the info is all stamped on the outside face of the wheel which made it nice and easy to photograph and explain for you. On most aftermarket wheels, they don't want to pollute the lines and style of the outside of the wheel with stamped-on information - it's more likely to be found inside the rim, or one one of the inner mounting surfaces.</span>

Hope this helps a bit!

I believe that AH2 refers to the bead locking - see http://www.candgmotorsports.com/EmergingTe...Technology.html and http://www.hunter.com/pub/undercar/4369T/overview.htm for a pix

AH2 Rims are used on P38A and later RRs and Disco II.

I'm surprised they are used on Defenders - although this may have happened with the addition of ABS to Defenders.
