    What is better for 109: 235/85 or 265/75 ?

I am going to change tyres. Hope to find "wide" Disco rims and... which tyres size is better for SIII 109 ?

I am told they are a bit too wide for the standard steel disco rim.

    Hi Adam
    Have a look at a 255/85 x 16,nice and tall,will help your gearing,ie overdrive by 5 to 10%.
For a good price look for a secondhand tyre importer,I have seen BFG mudterrains with 75%+ for $100ea.

From observation, the 235's on Defenders look too narrow, but they have been using then for years and seem to work okay. Most of the defenders in the club run these and petrform well off-road.

265's will fit on the doisco rims, but you will loose your turning circle as the tyres rub on the radius arms. I was going to fit 265/75R16 to Aquarangie but after some serious thought I opted for the 235/85R16's in Goodyear MT/R's. Rangies don't have as much guard space as Defenders, so they should fit on Defenders without any sort of hassles apart from what I said before.

Each to there own I say. Good luck,

    Trav
