Basically right below the front of your seat, on the fllor at the bottom of the box section. Your calves should not hit it. The only other decent location is in the rear cargo area, maybe on a cargo barrier.

The suggested position by LR, is on the passenger footwell doorside panel.
It shows the bracket mounted just foward of the door hinges, with the extinguisher top at a slight angle towards the passenger. (ie: under the glovebox on the side panel).
The main criteria is to be able to get to it quickly from anywhere outside of the car. You do not want to be getting back in to to reach it, particuarly if it is your vehicle which requires extinguishing.
ops:
If possible, inside the rear LH side of the cargo area is OK.
With all powder types, take them out now and again and roll them around to loosen up the powder. It will tend to pack down over time with vehicle movement.
Cheers,

In reality if your car is on fire to the extreme where you can not reach in and grab the fire extinguisher, then your car is gone anyway and once it takes the small extinguishers we carry will not put it out anyway. They are generally for small spot fires. I am not sure that I would like the encroachment in the passengers footwell. In my Disco and RR I have had them both in front of the drivers side seat box as the driver can get at it easily and quickly.
I agree with all that you have said Craig. LR's choice of position sucks, but I put it in the response for info. All mine have been mounted in the rear of the vehicle.
Mostly I carry it for "Use on other things", as opposed to putting any fire in my Diesel vehicle out.
