Discovery 2 chassis cracking
Here is a link to some pix I took of a cracked chassis on a Disco 2. Note the cracking is around the steering box area.
It subsequently had a chassis replacement done by LR Australia. See the directory at http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/thebeck...over/discovery/ You'll note that LR produce a chassis repair or strengthening section KUZ000120 - this may be for RHD vehicles, I don't know. Ron

The spelling crack? The chassis crack? Or the wine type? Nothing new ,we used to crack 60, 70 and 80 series Toyota Cruisers chassis like that in 6 months from new up the cape and gulf in the 80's and 90's. The utes were ok cause they could twist, but the wagons and troopys were no good the body holds the chassis rigid. Toyota sent an engineer from Japan out to look at the 80's, he came to Townsville to look at them. As a result they did a very similar mod (world wide)to the the cruisers, based on us wrecking them in short order. Telecom even sent a bloke up to teach us how to drive a 4x4, but he drowned a 40 series ute in a river and told us we shouldn't have been driving where we were, we suggest he carry the tool boxes and walk rather than punch the Toyota through. Based on 1000s of KM driving company Cruisers is why I own a Disco.

The number is actually KVZ000120.
There's over 400 of the patches sitting in LRs Australian warehouse.
