    200tdi into a petrol Series

It has been mentioned often that the 200tdi will fit fairly easily in place of a 2.25 Litre petrol engine in a Series 2A Land Rover. Just how straightforward is this? What specifically needs to be done? Has anyone done this changeover?
I was wondering which 200tdi engine will go in (Defender or Disco, Man or Auto, or any version). Will the Series engine mounts line up, and bellhousing pattern? Clutch and Accelerator issues? Can I use the same radiator and hoses? Aircleaner? Will the Tdi alternator plug into the Series electrical system. What stuff will I need to get from the Donor vehicle (Glow Plug relay, etc)?
Lots of questions, I know, but there is more to the changeover than just dropping the block into the engine bay. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Gunner
Pretty sure Landrover UK was selling retrofit kits to to the exact conversion to Series and earlier County vehicles.
As INC suggested, very popular in the UK and African markets.
Actually,in the African markets Landrover actually ran factorys to refurbish Series Landys as new with TDI motors.I have the pommy mags with the articles stored away in the shed SOMEWHERE

LVS here in Sydney did a 300 tdi and R380 conversion to a Series 3 - only saw it as a rolling chassis.

    200TDI into a petrol series

    G'day 303 gunner

One off the best people to speak to would be Stuart Hooper at British Off Road as he was trying to convince me to fit one to my 2a but it was out of my pension range I believe that it can with or without the Turbo and will bolt up to the series G/box the late 2a box being the stronger set-up the one with the large intermediate shaft in the transfer box, the engine bolts to the existing engine mounts, not shure about the radiator as the 2a/3 runs 10 psi and TDI at a higher pressure, but that could only be the pressure cap that needs changing, a good Radiator service coy. would be able to advise you. As I said speak to Stuart, as i think he has done one or two, as I know that they were building 90's to order, check out www.britishoffroad.com that is their website i think you could just send to stuart@

i know a swb works but 109? i dont know thing turbo hits chassis
hey most of the way threw putting a 200tdi out of a 93 manual disco into my series III.
To do it properly you need an engineer to do a few things for you. the turbo needs rotated so you need the wasgate retaped.
the bellhousing needs one stud removed and four put it to match the series three patern. you also need to get M10 alan screws to hold bottom of bell housing to the block to stop oil leaks. they need countersunk.

bolds to standard mounts i would buy new ones!
otherwise you can do everything yourself.
i have my exaust running threw the inner guard made of steam pipe bends and intercooler infront of radiator. Im using a good condition series III radiator and you need a oil cooler ive got a new 9row cooler. all the wiriing is colour coded and most things are the same but google can provide a set of instructions.

    just ask anything i've missed
