    D1 ignition problem?

My Disco is having starting problems, buts it's because the key wont turn in the ignition I think it's the tumbler or barrel thing. Asked my Brother and he has the same problem aswell. Anybody know of a fix for this? Would you spray some type of lube in there? I need it fixed because the misses went off when out shopping because she couldn't get it started.

If it's at the stage like yours where the key won't turn at all, then it will probably need to be removed & stripped down to clean the sticking lock barrel tumblers.

A regular application of graphite powder is advisable to lubricate the lock.

Saying this, I assume the steering wheel lock isn't jamming the lock - move the wheel so it's not hard against it's lock.

I had the same - wasted time and money buying a new set up - only to find that the security bolts holding the unit to the column were loose and stopping the lock from engaging/dis-engaging.

I'd check there first before doing anything else.

You shouldn't have needed a new lock anyway; any decent locksmith will be able to strip it down & repair/clean it.

Put my money on this one, most locksmiths should be able to do it for u, but you will have to pull the ignition lock out, pretty easy to get too, well sort of From memory it only costs $50.

Or the really easy fix. Get a spare key (all metal) fit it in the lock and give it a tap on the end with a hammer to fee up the mechanism. After that put some graphite powder in there to lube it up. Too Easy!
