    door swap

just wondering if anyone knows if the county or defender front doors would fit on my 80 model series 3/stage 1 as mine now are a 2 piece and always rust out and leaks when it rains.

Yep this a simple bolt up job if you are going to do this try and get the hinges with the doors also try and get the fenda door mirrors as they bolt to the fenda hinges and if u use the series hinges and want to fit the fenda mirrors you will have to drill 2 holes in the top hinges hope this helps

    cheers

I've fitted Defender doors to my SIII. It was well worth it. They make a better arm rest, provide better ventilation, let you stick your head out the window when reversing narrow tracks and you don't get that reflection from the 2nd pane of glass that you get when you drive at night with the sliding windows open.

My SIII is for sale at the moment there are pics of the doors on the ebay advert.

Yes, they are interchangeable with the proviso that you will have to work something out with the door check, and fit the appropriate striker plate to match the lock.

Note however that the Defender door is much thicker than the Series door, reducing your elbow room - the steering wheel on the Defender had to be reduced in size and the seats moved inboard to allow for this compared to the 110. (actually I think the change in door was before the Defender name - distinguished by the pull out door handle). The earlier wind up window door fitted to the 110 (not just County trim) except for military models and the very early 110, is not as thick as the later door but still thicker than the sliding window door - and not as well engineered as either, very prone to rattling!

Hinges are the same from Series 3 on.
