    Transfer Case

There is a 1997 Disco 1, transfer case on Ebay

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/landrover-dis...QQcmdZViewItem

Will this fit on my 2002 DII disco - reason is my TC doesn't have a CDL - and this one does.

Is it a low cost way of getting one or am I barking up the wrong tree.

    Thanks

No i don't think so, even though they are similar (ie) R380/LT230 or ZF in the auto for the D2 the D1 is R380/LT230E or visa versa, they have differant ratios i think

    I'm sure i saw a D2 transfercase somewhere for sale from a late 03 model, i'll have a look.

Thanks Baz, the ebay one says the ratio is 1.22 : 1, on mine the ratio is 1.211 :1

Would that 0.09 make a great deal of difference.

I'll call that mob in SA and see if they will allow something for my TC.

I have a Disco II transfer case in my 88 Rangie. The ratio change was something of that magnitude, didn't notice a thing.

If it was in low range only then it would be a good thing, being lower.

Also you would have to modify your low/high lever or fit the D1 high/low lever and CDL actuator and modify that as well because it is differant to the D2 actuator as it's a linkage setup not cable and doesn't fit in the tunnel properly.

I think you'll need to change the front propshaft flanges as well. D1 & D2 are different IIRC.

Other difference betwwen D1 & D2 is that the latter have the quiet gears. Well worth fitting if the 1.2 is the right ratio for you.
