MTQ use the TD04 in their upgrade kit, but I have no idea of what combination of wheels it uses. They also cast their own exhaust manifold and dump pipe.

JustinC has installed a few of the MTQ kits on customer cars. Hopefully he might pop in and answer a bit more.

    Hello,

Welcome to the forum, and yes we have installed a few, and yes very happy with the performance. (On one we have fitted one of Jases bigger intercoolers, 300Tdi auto Disco, twin tru tracs, 32's and defender transfer etc the engine did feel smoother under load, and EGT's were slightly down.)

The only problem we encountered during installing the last kit was that the drain from the turbo to the block wasn't going to line up without kinking it, so I had Enzed make me another.

MTQ claim about 20% more gas flow than standard, and while we were unable to Dyno these, with the bigger exhaust and fuelling upgrade done, we also advanced the pump timing slightly, it made a big difference to the auto disco.

As said, MTQ use a different casting/ housings as a bolt on kit for the Tdi, so I would check that the Td04 you have is compatible / matched etc before you go down this path of potential hair loss.

    thanks justin
the turbos i have are bare (casings, wheels and thats it) so will be building it from scratch

at this point would like to confirm the turbo wheels are compatible
either visually or serial numbers etc... i have seen some around that are td04-11c.... etc im guessing this means a td04 casing with 11c being the combination of wheels and wastegate actuator

i rang one of MTQ's agents here on friday and found them less than knowledable and even less helpful will try head office on monday

I belive thats the turbo on our dead Trytoo.
This one is different than the previous,it has a large vane then a small vane compared to all the same on the earlier version on the compressor side. And it spooled up heaps better too.
If I decide to wreck the Trytoo, watch for it in the markets.

I definately talked to weatherill pk, I thought that was head office, or maybe it was the closer of QLD and NSW considering I got no help out of Vic.

    They were quite helpful anyway.

I think you'll find Wetherill Pk are in charge of kit development/manufacture these days (used to be Toowoomba) and corporate head office is Brissy.

Justin, do you find the MTQ kit performs better than just doing the pump adjustments with the standard Garrett ?

spoke to mtq weatherill park today,
they were able to answer most of my questions. ill be able to get the manifold and dump pipe off of them for a reasonable price. tho it will be put on hold for a while, i have rego and insurance coming up..... never a cheap affair, made worse coz im towards the younger end of the scale

JC how many psi boost do you run?

they were a little vague and phone connection wasnt great, think they said no more than 19psi. dont think ill be going anywhere near that. i was thinking slightly lower than standard, 12-13psi. i think i read something like that in another thread....

still going ahead, fun and games , reckon if i can get away with less than $1000 all up ill be happy
