Strange lurching in landy

Hey Guys,

i am having a strange problem with my landy in that whenever i change gears and speed up "slowly" i seem to get a strange lurching action from my defender. A mechanic told me that it was a bush which stops the diff from twisting but i have no idea which bush this is or if this is even the problem?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers Dave

Sounds like bushes to me too... Make sure you check out the trailing arm bushes too.

I found after cutting the muffler out that the engine braking lost it's hard edge and smoothed the drivline slap a great deal. Pat

Not being so harsh with the throttle will help solve that too...

Thanks for the input guys..

I have asked pedders to replace the balljoint and the bushes in the yframe, or whatever it is called, which i will be getting done this friday and will let you know how it goes. He also noticed that my pitment arm was a bit worn so i will also be getting that replaced as well.

As for the "trailing arm" i am not sure what that is, so could you elaborate on it for me so i can also get that checked?

cheers david

the trailing arms (or locating arms) on the rear are the ones that go from the bottom of the diff to the middleish of the chassis

there are the same deal on the front but a differnt style often refered to as hockey sticks as they have a hook on the end of them that not only locates the axle but prevents it from twisting when drive is applied.

Dont skimp. If your doing one set of axle bushes do em all. (dont forget the track rods and sway bars if fitted)
