Unhappy Defender TD5 Fuel Pressure Regulator

    Hi all,

new reader - 1st time poster - pls be gentle

Just put my '03 D90 into the dealer for 80K service and am told that the fuel pressure regulator is leaking.

Apparently this is a non-servicable part and they're after $435 for a new one plus $264 in fitting charges

Any suggestions on where else I could try to source one from to fit myself? I've got the workshop manuals and am not afraid to get my hands dirty.

Tips / warnings from those of you who've dealt with this before would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Tim

Mmm, I was going to say what about the warranty but I suppose an 03 might be just out timewise.

I would hassle them to fix it anyway as it is under 100,000km.

If you have a good Dealer service history they might be able to claim it anway. Failing that, they are charging way too much labour. One hour should be sufficient.

I can supply, new plus gasket $310 to your door.

Fit it yourself! Only takes an hour on a Defender.

Whew! Many thanks all. Just got home and checked the manual on the work to be done - 6 bolts and renew the O-rings + gaskets Think i'll be having words to the dealer tomorrow about labour charges

Great to find somewhere where folks are so helpful!

Tombraider - I'll be dropping you a PM shortly...

It's not a black one or a blue one by any chance ?
(I noticed there was one of each in the workshop in the last day or so)
