Southdown not a big enough diameter tube for a 4BD1 IMHO, I have an easy setup that is very secure and can be removed later if neccessary; plumbs straight into the air inlet on the donaldson-being the same diameter.......

Aluminium tubing, and rubber fittings (same as on the standard County 4BD1 NA).......Under the bonnet is a moulded section-ie 'donut', that has been welded to a section of aluminium that fits the normal vent, then I have silicon hose with aluminium to the filter housing, if that makes sense. You could go for that plastic flexi-pipe underneath, but it rubs, and develops holes over time, destroying the concept........this setup is not cheap, but it will last, and the car is for my son when I croak, so who cares.......

your concept looks the goods - what rubber parts are they as intended for the NA 4BD1?

*ouch* be nice Gerry, not everyone has true taste in 110's

    Brian, PM sent

Clarkie, good luck in the search - from what I've seen there are only mantec, safari, southdown and few resellers with safari/airtec clones out there...

seeing the Isuzu is 3.9 and i'm looking at a 4.6 then i will need a bigger diameter one............

3" will be fine from what i have worked out....

I'm might just make one from Exhaust tube and then drop it thru the wing top vent and use flexy underneath

Brian's photos of his DIY 4BD1 snorkle for reference:

made from 90mm stormwater piping/fittings and flexy under the bonnet
